Natalia Guschina studied at the Tchaikovsky South Ural State Institute of Arts in Chelyabinsk, and later her talent was accelerated by post-graduate studies at the Magnitogorsk State Conservatory with Prof. Andrei Diev in Magnitogorsk. She has been the soloist at the Chelyabinsk Philharmonia since 2005.
Natalia was a prize-winner of the international competition in Kyiv in 2006 and a laureate in nominated categories Solo Performance and Chamber Ensemble of the international competition in Finland in 2007.
As a soloist, Natalia has an extensive and diverse repertoire, presenting all stages of piano music development from the clavier era to contemporary times. She has prepared such solo programs as The Baroque Triad including selected pieces by Bach, Handel and Scarlatti, Getting to Know the Piano Genres, Dialogues with Mozart, The Island of Joy, Songs Without Words, Franz Liszt: Faces of the Pianist, I Call You to Life, Musical Vernissage, Impromptus and Fantasies. In the 2008–2009 season, the pianist performed a series of solo concerts Natalia Guschina Plays and Talks.
Natalia has appeared regularly with instrumental ensemble Maestro-Accordion, the Chelyabinsk Chamber (now – Symphonic) Orchestra “Classica”, the Chelyabinsk Philharmonia Wind Orchestra, the Organ-Mix Trio (with organist Larisa Timshina and saxophonist Tatiana Zaitseva) and the T.O.N. Trio (with saxophonist Tatiana Zaitseva and violinist Olga Chernova). Her musical curiosity in the experimental stage productions has brought her to collaborate with the team of The Mystery of the Violin Clef, a detective musical for children by Vladimir Osherov and Igor Minogin.
As a public educator, Natalia has authored and hosted the series of philharmonic lessons (Seasons, Historic Portraits in Music, The Golden Age of Russian Culture and others), the weekend series of family concerts The Sunday Philharmonia, the series of concerts for expecting parents The Oncoming Miracle, chamber music parties Around the White Grand Piano, and the series of educational concerts Musical ABC. Since 2010 she has been the artistic director of the Sozvuchie (Consonance) Festival that unites the students of all children’s art schools of Chelyabinsk. Natalia was invited by the Robert Bosch Stiftung to participate in projects dedicated to Lusatian composers and contemporary German music and collaborated with German countertenor Daniel Gloger.
In 2013, she performed with cellist Boris Adrianov and violinist Graf Murzha at the festival “Denis Matsuev presents…”. In the 2013-2014 season, Natalia appeared in concert premieres The Evening in Major and Spring Dreams. In 2014, the Administration of Chelyabinsk awarded the gifted musician the Golden Lyre Prize for her achievements in musical art.
In 2015, Natalia performed solo concerts in Kazakhstan and presented new solo programs Pictures at an Exhibition and Evening Harmonies in Chelyabinsk. She collaborated with actor Helmut Thiele, making a piano and spoken word duet in the Robert Bosch Stiftung’s project Pianoworte, and Chelyabinsk soloists soprano Natalia Voronkina in Musical Rarities and countertenor Sergey Vanin in Poco Barocco.
Between these notable occasions, she gives performances with the Organ-Mix Trio, accompanies the soloists of the Chelyabinsk Philharmonia on the piano and plays in concerts for expecting parents The Oncoming Miracle and at chamber music parties Around the White Grand Piano.
